Lake Conroe Hot This Month
Everything is biting on Lake Conroe with the shad spawn still going strong.
Largemouth bass have been fair to good along the bulkheads.

"For hybrids, the fishing has been outstanding, according to Collin Edwards with Lake Conroe Fishing Adventures.
"I am using cut shad 99 percent of the time," he said. "The bigger the piece, the better."
“It’s been really good,” he said, “We have a lot of fish out deep, Let’s say 30 to 36 feet, still out on open ledges and deep water areas. We have a lot of fish that have been up shallow on sandy points and ledges. I have been catching them anywhere from 12 to 36 feet.”
He and his clients have been using shad primarily.
“You can also get them on some casting slabs,” he added. “Right now, they are a little more active in the springtime, especially if you can find some fish actively feeding.”
White bass have been mixed in with the hybrids.
“They have been for the last couple of weeks. They will kind of separate here and there,” Edwards reported. “A client just caught the new junior lake record for white bass.”
As summer sets in, Edwards says the fish will continue to move deeper and settle into a 16- to 20-foot range. Don’t be afraid to pick up and move or even troll a deep-diving crankbait or spoon behind a hellbender while you’re searching for a school.
